PEST (Parent  Encouraging Staff & Teachers) Program

Program Description

The PEST (Parents Encouraging Staff & Teachers) Program is a Staff Appreciation Program provided by the Bret Harte Community Club.  PESTs are parent volunteers who "anonymously" act as "Secret Santas" throughout the school year to support our wonderful staff and teachers. There are no committee meetings to attend, and you participate on your own schedule.  It's a super easy way to show our staff and teachers how much we appreciate them. They LOVE the PEST program since every gift/card really brightens their day!  See how much they love this program by reading their testimonials and seeing their happy, smiling faces after receiving gifts/cards from their PESTs in our PEST Gallery of photos below.

Here's How It Works

When you sign up (below), you can request which staff member or teacher you would like to PEST. In the meantime, staff members and teachers that want to participate in the PEST Program fill out a PEST Survey listing their favorite snacks, drinks, food choices, interests, etc. After a few weeks, you will receive an email informing you which staff member/teacher you have been assigned and given a copy of the PEST Survey they filled out listing their favorites. The parent then secretly supports this staff member or teacher throughout the school year with notes of encouragement, favorite treats, holiday messages, birthday surprises and/or other low-cost gifts on a regular basis (about one to two times per month). Everything is on your own schedule, so it's very flexible and easy, but makes a big difference to our staff members and teachers. You can have your child bring the gift to your assigned staff member/ teacher or have him/her give it to a friend to deliver. If you would like to drop off the gift yourself, please call the office and make an appointment. Parents are not allowed on campus without an appointment this year. Your identity will be revealed at the end of the school year.
