Scholastic Book Fair

Program Description
The Scholastic Book Fair is organized by the Bret Harte Community Club to raise funds for Bret Harte Middle School. All proceeds benefit the school library. Students may buy books during snack break, lunch recess, and after school during this week-long event. Teachers may bring their students to the fair during the day. The main goal of the book fair is to encourage school-wide reading

Volunteer Responsibilities

• ​Helps set up and tear down the book fair.
• Runs cash registers.
• Keeps books in order and supervises students.

Book Fair Co-Chair Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Scholastic to get dates, bookcases, and cash registers.
• Creates and manages volunteer sign-ups. Recruits volunteers.
• Promotes the fair by collaborating with the school administration, Bret Harte Community Club, and the school leadership team.
• Coordinates with the Treasurer to get starter cash before the fair. Ensures enough cash in registers daily to make change.
• Prints out daily reports from cash registers to track sales. Prints a cumulative report from registers and submits it with all cash/checks to the BHCC Treasurer at the end of the fair.  ​

Scholastic Book Fair Results

In the last book fair we were able to raise over $3000 for the library and many new books were added to the school library collection.
