BHCC Donation Drive - Important Update!
THANK YOU to everyone who has so kindly donated to the BHCC donation drive.  We are at 86% of our budget for the year!  Please consider helping us reach 100%.  Any amount is appreciated and will help support our teachers and students.  Funds have been used this school year to buy technology, such as: iPads, Apple pens, microphones, cables, batteries, Apple TV, green screen, and software to help the teachers provide more effective instruction.  Donations have also helped support our new music teacher, Mr. Miranda, in building the band program through instrument repairs and new equipment.  Your contributions will assist us in running important student programs like: Cornerstone, Everyday Heroes, Career Day, and Bronco Nights.  Help us reach 100% of our budget - we are close!
Please consider making a donation today!

Bret Harte Middle school strives to recognize students that promote a positive school culture and climate. The Everyday Heroes Program focuses on peer to peer recognition of students exhibiting BHMS core values: Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility (HR2).

Everyday Heroes are all around us.  They are the ones that show integrity by telling the truth when they forget to do an assignment or when they make a mistake. They are Upstanders, standing up for others while at other times standing with others so they do not feel alone.  They are also inclusive making everyone feel welcome on campus, whether it be including someone at lunch who is sitting alone or inviting someone to join a group in class. They take responsibility for the quality of the work they submit and keep the commitments they make.

Nominations for the Fall Everyday Heroes were accepted November 15th to 24th. Thank you to the BHCC students that recognized the actions of your classmates when they demonstrated HR2 (Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility) character traits! Congratulations to the FALL Everyday Heroes Award recipients. Awards and raffle winners for several $20 gift cards will be distributed on November 30th.  The next Everyday Hero Recognition period will be in February. Until then, stay HR2 Broncos! For more information contact [email protected]
The Scholastic Fall Online Book Fair raised $95 for the school library and media center. Thanks to those who supported this fundraising event. If you missed this event, you can continue to add 2% of your purchase to the profits at https://shop.scholastic.com/parent-ecommerce/parent-store.html. Have a great holiday season!

Did you know you can be a lucky gift card winner for simply demonstrating positive character traits at school?

Teachers are handing out Bronco Bucks to students who demonstrate assets such as Caring, Cooperation, Confidence, Commitment to Excellence, Good Judgement, Honesty, Helping Others, Reliability, Responsibility or Respect.  If a teacher sees that you have demonstrated one of these assets they might award you with a BRONCO BUCK!  Bring this Bronco Buck to the BH office and you will be entered into a raffle to win a Starbucks or Chick-fil-A or Amazon gift card!  There are THREE student winners every week so it's never too late to show your teachers how many of these assets you have.  There will be a participating teacher winner once a month for a $50 Amazon gift card for acknowledging the good traits of the students. Chances of winning for students are pretty good because we will be selecting winners all throughout the school year.  We've already had 6 student winners.  Good luck Teachers and Students..!!
Parent Education Corner

This year Bret Harte Community Parent Education Team is partnering up with other Almaden Community Schools to expand our parent education events.  Last month, Leland High School Parent Education Team had organized Becoming a Calm Parent:  Tips and Tricks speaker event presented by Mary Eschen (Creator of podcast Parenting Decoded) and had extended the invitation to Bret Harte parents. If you enjoyed Mary’s presentation, you can learn more and reach out to her at https://www.parentingwithlogic.com/.  And, if you had missed the event on November 10th, you can watch it here.

Bret Harte Community Club is looking forward to continuing this collaborative effort and are extending the December speaker event, organized by our Bret Harte Parent Education Team to Leland High school and Castillero Middle School parents.

We will have a speaker from Breathe CA, a non-profit organization in San Jose. Our speaker will talk about tobacco advertisements geared toward youth, youth smoking rates, myths and facts, the risks of e-cigarettes and vaping, and how to get involved in this issue. We will also talk about the connection between vaping and COVID-19. During the last 20 minutes, we will take questions from the audience.

Please register for the event using this link: https://bhccvapingspeakerdec8.eventbrite.com

We will email you the Webex link 2 days before the event. For more details, bhcc[email protected]
